Starbound seems to have a better world generator. Hopefully this will change in future releases. At current, furniture like beds do nothing in Centauri, which makes base-building feel a bit pointless. If played properly, death is almost never a threat in Starbound (except from falling), while in Centauri you will die a ton unless you're absurdly careful. Similarly, Centauri's enemies are much more varied and threatening. This makes combat feel more responsive and just better in general. Starbound is very floaty and a bit slow in terms of movement, whereas Centauri feels more like a traditional platformer. In terms of physics, Planet Centauri is much "tighter". There's thousands more objects to build with, for example. Starbound also has more content in general.
It's been out much longer and is relatively free of crashes, bugs, and other major problems. I played a ton of Starbound so I can compare them a bit.
